Salzburg – Liverpool
Salzburg and Liverpool face each other on Tuesday in a match from Group E of the Champions League. In our Champions League predictions we will have a look at this fixture, because it might be important for the final standings in the group.
For Liverpool things are pretty clear – they win, they win the group. Right now the European champions are leading the group with 10 points, being one point ahead of the second Napoli. Salzburg follows on third place wth 7 points, so Liverpool must be careful in this regard.
This season is going just perfect for Liverpool so far. The Reds are almost flawless in the Premier League, enjoying a healthy lead on the top of the standings. Now they also have a chance to win their Champions League draw and hope for a better draw at the 1/8-finals.
Fabinho, Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren remain sidelined for Liverpool. In the team’s previous game against Bournemouth in the Premier League Jurgen Klopp rested Sadio Mane, leaving him on the bench for the entire 90 minutes. Trent Alexander-Arnold also started from the bench, but he had to come in after Dejan Lovren’s injury in the first half.
Salzburg are one of the teams which made a good impression in the Champions League this season. The Austrian team is the side with the best attack in Group E, having scored 16 goals so far – 5 more than Liverpool. In October the Red Bulls made a great performance at the Anfield Road and scored three goals, but at the end Liverpool managed to win it with 4-3.
In our Champions League predictions we believe that for Liverpool it’s going to be a tough game against Salzburg on Tuesday. The Austrian team is a very capable and they have some dangerous players. Jurgen Klopp’s boys must be serious about this.
