Villareal – Eibar

Villarreal hosts Eibar in a game from the 29th round of the Spanish La Liga. The match will be played at the Estadio El Madrigal in Villarreal.

The Yellow Submarine is currently 5th in the standings, falling with 7 points behind the 4th Atletico Madrid and the Champions League zone in La Liga. They also have the same amount of points with the 6th Real Sociedad, so the battle for Europa League qualification continues as well.

As for Eibar, the team performs surprisingly good this season. Eibar is 8th in the La Liga standings, being just 7 points behind the Europa League places. Even if they don’t qualify for Europe, they could be absolutely satisfied with their season so far.

Villarreal were enjoying a run of three consecutive wins in La Liga, before losing the visit to Las Palmas in the last round. Fran Escriba’s team remains one of the strongest sides in Spain, so Villarreal will try to secure at least an Europa League qualification for next season.

Eibar already achieved their main goal for the season – survival, so now they could finish the season, enjoying their football.

Villarreal’s manager Fran Escriba have some problems before the game. The Russian international Denis Cheryshev and Sergio Asenjo are injured, while the striker Roberto Soldado is doubtful for the game. The same could be said about Adrian and Jose Angel.

Eibar’s Nano is missing the game at the El Madrigal because of an injury, while Imanol Sarriegi and Fran Rico are doubtful.

Villarreal are the clear favourite to win this game. They are the better team of the two and they will also have the advantage of playing at home. Eibar are showing good football this season, but they do not have a lot to play for until the end of the campaign.
