Allegri: An important victory, but nothing is decided
Juventus coach Massimiliano Alighiri received a calm 1: 0 victory over Atalanta in the first match between the two teams in the 1/2-cup final of the Italian Cup. Success in Bergamo gives an advantage to Torino before the rematch, but the coach believes that nothing in the clash is still resolved.
“This is an important victory. In the first half we showed good football and we knew the ball. In the second part, Atalanta attempted to return to the match and there was a slight fatigue, but we managed to hold on. We have achieved an important result, but nothing is decided yet. The first 45 minutes we stayed well, but in the second part we had better move the ball. Things were not getting as they should, “said Allegri.
A very important moment in the game was the save by Gianluigi Buffon penalty in the 25th minute, played by Alejandro Gomez. This happened in his first game as the title holder after the injury he was treating and two days after his 40th birthday.
“I am happy for Gigi, who has not played in the Italian Cup for the last five years. He has not forgotten how he is kept for 45 days out of play. He has rested in the last few weeks, but now he has returned and is again the first choice under the frame. Wojciech Szksny managed excellently in his absence. He is a great champion, but Buffon is Buffon. The goal is also helped by our excellent defense, as well as by the whole team that helps protect our door, “said Allegri.
