Celtic hosts CFR Cluj
Celtic hosts CFR Cluj in a second leg from the third qualifying round of the Champions League. Let’s discuss what’s happening with this tie in our predictions football 1×2.
Thanks to the 1-1 draw in Cluj-Napoca a week ago, Celtic are in a better position to qualify for the playoffs. The Romanian side hoped to gain some advantage at home, but sadly for them it didn’t happen.
The game in Cluj-Napoca started very good for the home side, because CFR Cluj opened the score after 28 minutes of playing. Ciprian Deac provided the ball to Mario Rondon, who put the ball behind Celtic’ goalkeeper Scott Bain.
Celtic reacted well to the challenge and equalised less than 10 minutes later. James Forrest used an assist from Hatem Elhamed and erased Cluj’s lead. Until the end of the game we didn’t see any other goals, so both teams kept their chances of progression.
In the Romanian Liga I CFR Cluj are currently leading the standings with 13 points won and a record of four wins and one draw. In their last match Cluj hosted Hermannstadt and enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win at home. Adrian Paun, Valentin Costache and Billel Omrani scored for Dan Petrescu’s team.
Meanwhile Celtic kicked off their campaign in the Scottish Premiership in the best way possible – with two wins in the first two rounds. In their last match Neil Lennon’s boys visited Motherwell and enjoyed a 5-2 win at the Fir Park. Five different players scored for the champions – Ajer, Griffiths, Forrest, Edouard and Christie.
These are our predictions football 1×2 for the Champions League qualifying game between Celtic and CFR Cluj on Tuesday. Celtic has a slight advantage after the first game, plus they are playing at home which makes them favourites. But CFR Cluj will try to use their chances at the Celtic Park.
