Charlie Austin’s injury is far more serious

Southampton scorer Charley Austin will miss at least two months of the season because of an injury. The attacker gained a strain on the back of the thigh and forced the field in the 79th minute against the visiting Huddersfield in the Premier League on Dec. 23. Earlier in the 24th minute, Austin had taken the hosts with the fifth goal in their last seven championship games, but in just over an hour the guests managed to reach the final 1: 1 with Laurent Depot.

“Charlie will be absent longer than the initial predictions, he has undergone new medical tests to determine the severity of the injury and the news is not good, and after the additional tests we expect him to miss at least the next two months. is entering an optimal form, “southern manager Mauriceio Pellegrino commented.

This is likely to require a new striker in January because Pellegrino has only Manolo Gabiadi and Shane Long at the top of the attack, as the Irishman has not yet scored this season. Southampton is in a heavy seven-match series without a win in the Premier League and occupies the 14th place with 19 points, just 2 points above the relegation zone.
