Germany – Mexico

Being the current champion of the world, Germany have raised the bar high for themlselves. Days before the start of the World Cup 2018 in Russia, the goal for the Die Mannschaft is only one – winning the world title for a 5th time. These are our vip soccer bets for the clash between Germany and Mexico at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

Joachim Low is still the manager of Germany, but he made some important changes compared to what his team looked like 4 years gol. The big hero from Brazil 2014 Mario Gotze is no more a part of the national team, while there are some new faces like Timo Werner, Julian Brandt, Leon Goretzka and Niklas Sule. Just like always, Joachim Low showed his love for the young players, bringing some talented youngsters in the squad.

Of course, we will hear a lot of opinions about Low’s decision to leave Manchester City’s winger Leroy Sane at home. The talented forward made a spectacular season in the Premier League, being one of the big stars of the new English champion. We all expected to see Sane shining at the World Cup as well, but shockingly Low didn’t call him for the tournament. Instead of Sane, he chose to call Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt.

As almost every other time, Germany played very strongly during the qualifiers and didn’t have any problems to qualify for the World Cup. The Mannschaft made a perfect qualification campaign, winning all of its ten matches in its group. The Germans finished their campaign with 30 points, 43 goals scored and just 4 conceded. Which is another proof how strong this team really is.

But things are going in a little different way in the friendly games Germany have played after the qualification campaign. The fans are worried, because Germany didn’t win neither one of the five friendly games they have played. The world champions made draws against England, France and Spain and suffered defeats against Brazil and Austria.

These are just friendlies, of course, so we shall not build our expectations for the World Cup based entirely on these results. They are showing that maybe there are some problems in the German team at the moment, but we are sure that the Mannschaft will look completely different when the competition in Russia begins.

Mexico on the other hand are also a team which plays regularly at the World Cup. For the last tie the Aztecs missed a World Cup in 1990, when they were banned by FIFA. It’s a curious fact that since 1994 to now, Mexico are achieving the same result every time on the World Cup – reaching the 1/8-finals. This shows that they don’t have any problem to pass through the group stages, but after this they are unable to make a good run in the knockout phase.

The Mexican team gave a good effort and didn’t have problems to get its ticket for Russia. El Tri won its group in the decisive 5th round of the qualifiers, outperforming everyone else. They finished their campaign with 21 points and a record of 6 wins, 3 draws and only one defeat.

In Russia Mexico will led by the 56-years old manager Juan Carlos Osorio. He’s a well known name as a coach. In his biography we can find appointments at clubs like New York Red Bulls and Sao Paulo. He will be at the World Cup for a first time in his career.
