Chelsea, current holders of the Champions League trophy, have some healthy advantage after the first leg in London. Thomas Tuchel’s team achieved a 2-0 win against the French champion which puts them in a very good position to qualify for the 1/4-finals. Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic scored at the Stamford Bridge and put their team ahead.

Despite the problems they have with their owner Roman Abramovich, who was heavily sanctioned because of the Russian invasion in Ukraine, Chelsea won their last game in the Premier League. The Blues hosted Newcastle United at home and they needed a late winner from Havertz to take the three points. The German international scored in the 89th minute after a wonderful assist from Jorginho. Meanwhile Romelu Lukaku once again started from the bench and replaced Timo Werner in the second half.

Lille prepared for this trip to London with a 0-0 draw against Saint-Etienne in the Ligue 1. The Dogs are not doing as good as the previous season when they won the title – they are currently 6th in the standings. But we should remind you that they are also with a new manager after Christophe Galtier decided to quit the team and join Nice instead.

The 22-years old Canadian striker Jonathan David remains Lille’s most dangerous weapon at the moment. The young forward has scored 17 goals since the start of the season and three of them in the Champions League. Chelsea’s defense should be really careful with him.
